CAIAC is the Canadian Artificial Intelligence Association.

Neurone

Formerly known as the Canadian Society for the Computational Studies of Intelligence (or Société canadienne pour l'étude de l'intelligence par ordinateur), CAIAC's mission is to foster excellence and leadership in research, development and education in Canada's artificial intelligence community by facilitating the exchange of knowledge through various media and venues. CAIAC is the official arm of the AAAI in Canada. We are proud to note that Dr. Alan Mackworth, former President of the AAAI, was a founding member of our society.

Inaugural Award of the IEEE Canadian Foundation Nick Cercone Graduate Scholarship in Computer Science

Professor Nick Cercone made significant contributions to several fields, including artificial intelligence, data mining, knowledge representation, and computational linguistics.  He was generous and unselfish, a man of great humanity, and an inspiring and caring mentor: he had a deep passion for nurturing research talent. He was a CAIAC Fellow, having been awarded both a Lifetime Achievement Award and a Distinguished Service Award by the Association.

This scholarship honours him, and reminds us all about his work.

2018 Lifetime Achievement and Distinguished Service Awards - Call for nomination

CAIAC would like to invite you to nominate candidates for one of CAIAC’s two most prestigious awards: 

  • the CAIAC Distinguished Service Award, and 
  • the CAIAC Lifetime Achievement Award

2018 Doctoral Dissertation Award Nomination

The Canadian Artificial Intelligence Association/L'Association pour l'Intelligence Artificielle au Canada (CAIAC) is happy to announce its seventh AI Doctoral Dissertation Award.  This award concerns outstanding doctoral dissertations completed in a Canadian University during 2017 in the field of Artificial Intelligence. The final (post-defense) version of the Ph.D. thesis must have been received and accepted by the graduate unit in 2017.

2018 AI Masters Thesis Award Nomination

The Canadian Artificial Intelligence Association/L'Association pour l'Intelligence Artificielle au Canada (CAIAC) is happy to announce its seventh AI Master’s Thesis Award.  This award concerns outstanding MSc theses completed in a Canadian University during 2017 in the field of Artificial Intelligence. The final (post-defense) version of the MSc thesis must have been received and accepted by the graduate unit in 2017.
