Osmar Zaïane

Professor Osmar Zaïane is a prominent figure in the fields of data science and artificial intelligence, with significant contributions spanning various domains, including data mining, machine learning, and precision health.  He is a prolific researcher whose work has been instrumental in advancing methodologies and applications that leverage large datasets for meaningful insights, with a focus on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of data mining techniques, which are crucial for analyzing complex data, and relevant to real practical applications.  

He is a CIFAR AI Chair and has received many awards and accolades, including the best paper award at the 36th Canadian Conference on AI in 2023. He has served on the editorial boards of many journals, and was the program co-Chair of the 26th Canadian Conference on AI in 2013. As the Scientific Director of Amii from 2009 to 2020, he helped guide this to become one of the world’s top machine learning institutes.
