Short biographical note
Dr. Y. Xiang received his Ph.D. from University of British Columbia, B.C., Canada. He is a Professor at the School of Computer Science, University of Guelph. He has been Visiting Professor at University of Warwick, UK, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA, and Aalborg University, Denmark, and Adjunct Professor at University of Waterloo, and University of Regina.
He is a recipient of 2004-2006 Presidential Distinguished Professor Awards at University of Guelph in recognition of contributions through scholarship.

He served as Graduate Coordinator from 2001 to 2003 and, during this period, coordinated the effort to establish the CIS PhD program that commenced in Spring 2003.

He served as external examinars of PhD dissertations for University of Regina, University of Western Ontario, Aalborg University, Denmark, National University of Singapore, Singapore, and Ben-Gurion University, Israel.

He directs the Intelligent Decision Support Systems Lab at the Department of Computing and Information Science. He served as Program Co-Chair for The Sixteenth Canadian Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI'2003), Co-Chair for the Uncertain Reasoning Track in Florida Artificial Intelligence Research Symposium (FLAIRS) in 2001, 2002 and 2008, and AI/Application Stream Chair of the International Conference on Computing and Information (ICCI'98).

He served as Associate Editor for Journal of Automated Reasoning and International Journal of Approximate Reasoning. Currently, he serves as Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics - Part B, and in the Editorial Board of International Journal of Data Science, and The Open Artificial Intelligence Journal, International Journal of Data Analysis Techniques and Strategies, and International Journal of Data Mining, Modelling and Management.
