Short biographical note
Dr. Faddoul graduated with a PhD in computer science from Concordia University in 2011, specializing in artificial intelligence and knowledge representation and reasoning.

She’s received accolades including nominations for the best Canadian AI Doctoral Dissertation Award; the CAGS/UMI Distinguished Dissertation Award; and the Concordia University Engineering and Computer Science Convocation Prize.

She has taught at Concordia and Dalhousie University and has conducted research on knowledge representation reasoning algorithms and optimizations for Description Logics. Her latest research conducted at Dalhousie last winter focused on modeling clinical workflows into computer interpretable format used by Clinical Decision Support Systems to assist health care providers in reducing errors and improving quality of care.

“Dr. Faddoul’s research interests and current application area fit beautifully with our overall goal,” Dr. MacCaull said, “which is to develop a failsafe and easily customizable software platform for dynamic workflow. Prototypes for two workflow software systems for community based case management have been developed in collaboration with our industry partner, Palomino Systems Innovation Inc., and our health care partner, the Guysborough Antigonish Strait Healthcare Association, and are currently being tested throughout the area.”
