Lifetime Achievement and Distinguished Service Awards - Call for nomination

Dear CAIAC Member,

We would like to invite you to nominate candidates for one of CAIAC’s two most prestigious awards:

  • the CAIAC Distinguished Service Award, and
  • the CAIAC Lifetime Achievement Award

These awards are described below. To view the names and biography of previous recipients, please visit

In order to make the nomination process simpler than in the past, we created a form for each award. These forms are available below (in PDF and DOC formats). All you need to do is complete the appropriate form, ask your nominee to send you his/her CV, and forward these two documents to  by  January 31, 2019. The  CAIAC secretary will forward these nominations to the Award Committee  members.

The award winners will be announced at the banquet during the Canadian AI 2019 Conference.

Looking forward to your submissions,

The CAIAC Executive Committee

Descriptions of CAIAC’s Awards

The CAIAC Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honour bestowed by CAIAC. It is presented to individuals who have distinguished themselves through outstanding research excellence in Artificial Intelligence during the course of their academic career. The award is for lifetime achievement rather than for a single contribution. Nominees should have an academic career of at least 25 years after obtaining their Doctorate.

The CAIAC Distinguished Service Award is the honour bestowed by CAIAC to researchers who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service to the Canadian Artificial Intelligence community during the course of their career.
