Dr. Vlado Keselj

Dr. Vlado Keselj is a worthy recipient of the 2019 CAIAC Distinguished Service Award.

Vlado Keselj is a Professor of Computer Science in the Faculty of Computer Science at the Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the University of Belgrade, and Master's and PhD in Computer Science at the University of Waterloo. 

He has been actively involved in the Canadian AI community for roughly 20 years.

He served as CAIAC Treasurer for four years from 2005-2009. He was a Program Co-Chair of the Canadian AI conference in 2010. Vlado coached and organized ACM programming competitions at the Dalhousie University and Atlantic Canada for the last 16 years. He has organized programming competitions for high school students to promote computer science.

While actively serving the AI community, he was also a co-editor and co-author of more than 100 publications, primarily in the area of Natural Language Processing.

He is a member of the ACM, IEEE, AAAI, and CAIAC associations, and has served as a program co-chair of several conferences.
