About the CAIAC Logo
In 2008, the Canadian Society for the Computational Studies of Intelligence (or Société Canadienne pour l'étude de l'intelligence par ordinateur) changed its name to CAIAC: Canadian Artificial Intelligence Association / Association pour l'intelligence artificielle au Canada.
At the time of the name change, a competition was launched, inviting individuals to create a new logo for the society. In total, 52 logo designs were received. The members of the CAIAC Executive Committee were very pleased with the number of submissions and with the overall quality of the entries.
The winning entry, shown above, was submitted by Juan Beltran. Juan was at the time an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto, doing a double major in New Media Studies and Psychology. Extracurricularly, he does freelance design work for small businesses/individuals.
Many thanks to Juan for providing us with what we believe is a clean, modern and professional image for our society.
